I played Junior College tennis in 1991 at the age of 30 and have played USTA tournaments since 1971.
I switched to the Blackburne DS racquet in July of 2012. I switched racquets due to the severe injuries I received from a car accident in October of 2011. I was knocked unconscious and got a concussion. The 4th vertebrae in my neck was ruptured, pinching the nerve to my left arm. I had constant pain in the shoulder, numbness down the arm and tingling of the fingers. I was unable to lift a 3lb weight with my left arm. I was to have surgery in October 2012. I couldn't get any depth on my ground strokes. It took me about 20 sets to get used to the Blackburne DS racquet. The racquet has the power and gave me the depth I had lost on my groud strokes. My game is more dominant now than it was prior to my careet threatening injury.
RESULTS:
With my new Blackburne DS racquet, I finished the 2012 USTA Tennis Tournament season winning every MENS 35 SINGLES and MENS 45 SINGLES USTA Tournament I entered, without losing a single set. I am now entering the 2013 USTA Tournament season ranked #1 in MENS 35 SINGLES and #1 in MENS 45 SINGLES in the MID WEST SECTION / MID-SOUTH ILLINOIS DISTRICT. In 2012, I was also able to win the GOLD MEDAL in the MENS 50-54 yr old Singles, without losing a set. I also won the SILVER MEDAL in the MENS 50-54 yr old DOUBLES. The SENIOR OLYMPICS was held in Springfield, Illinois. I qualified for the 2013 SENIOR NATIONALS to be held in Cleveland, Ohio in July.
